Guardian of the Mystic Mirror
This large Dragon & Mirror metal sculpture by Luke Kite was inspired by an idea of a mystic gateway to ancient times of myths and legends.
It’s formed from several metals, with many fascinating designs and details with different metal treatments for sharp claws, scaly body and outspread copper wingtips, which all harmonise within the natural sweep of body and wings, and wrap naturally around a specially-treated misted mirror.
Intricate workings are everywhere, down to the smallest scales on each limb and rib, and sharp details define the dragon’s sweeping form and brooding character. This large piece is heavy, and at 1.4 metres high lends a really dramatic imposing presence to a room.
The reflected scene in the mirror brings an extra dimension to life as the viewer moves their viewpoint, as you can see by viewing the video clip below. Quite magical!
